ISABELLA LOZANO Work About CV Contact

‘Untitled’,   2026
Digital print

Following on from ‘Eu sou uma jarra’, this work combines a Brazilian juice protector cover with collaged, low-resolution images found through online searches for “suco de laranja”, exploring how distance, algorithms and incomplete memories flatten the physical and cultural experience of a place. The transparent net becomes an invisible barrier, marking the distance between seeing a place and truly being able to access it.

‘Eu sou uma jarra (I am a jug)’,   2026
Installation

In  ‘Eu sou uma jarra’, I pose as a juice jug, wearing a Brazilian mosquito net protective jug cover as a headpiece. Setting the scene somewhere between documentary and fiction, the work plays with the idea of incorrectly performing one’s own culture through a lack of context and mismatched symbols, where imagination fills in the gaps of cultural identity.
Exhibited at RCA2026 Arts and Humanities Show (June 2026)

‘Eu sou uma jarra (I am a jug)’,   2026
Publication

Part of ‘Eu sou uma jarra’ installation, this publication includes images of the ‘Eu sou uma jarra’ poster and lines from a poem displayed on 15 streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil and 14 of London, UK. The poem reflects on how the experiences of being a migrant and a woman intersect, and how the social pressure to adapt to a new place can feel stronger, sometimes to the point of sacrificing one’s own needs to fit in and make others comfortable.

Exhibited at RCA2026 Arts and Humanities Show (June 2026)

‘Flatten, Crosscheck and Report’,  2026

In collaboration with Alma Stritt
Installation
200 x 150 x 4 cm
‘Flatten, Crosscheck and Report‘ originated as a wall-based physical installation composed of tiled images, repurposed foam board, tape, and a selection of objects from both artists’ archives. The work was then further adapted into a 2D digital image made from stitched scans of the piece and its surrounding walls, captured with a portable scanner.
Exhibited at Three Rooms Gallery, Walthamstow, 2026 in the ASDFASDFASDF COLLECTIVE  group show ‘A System At Scale’

‘Roleggs’,   2026

Sculpture
 30 x 30 x 115 cm

‘Roleggs’, questions how anything can be given high status through the power of marketing. The found object, a common egg carton is rebranded with the fictional Roleggs logo and is filled with 12 golden eggs. Paying homage to the bootleg fakes that circulate South America, mispelling their way through an attempt to emulate European and North American luxury brands, and creating an alternative makeshift local market which challenge notions of authorship, authenticity and access.

‘Oda a cesta básica’,  2026
Mixed media
80 x 64 cm
‘Oda a cesta básica’ focuses on the materiality, aesthetic qualities, and documentation of Brazil’s cestas básicas, evidencing their status as objects existing somewhere between gifts, welfare aid, commercial enterprise, self-advertisement, and ultimately rubbish. It raises questions around which items are defined as “essential” in order to be included, and what influences shape these decisions.

‘O brasil pede! (Brazil asks for it!)’,   2026
Digital print on paper
120 x 160 cm
‘Brazil asks for it’ explores the contrast between the push for commercial growth through non-sustainable industries of mass production and the environmental and socio-economic damage that exists as an indirect consequence. Geloso’s brand logo, “Brazil asks for it,” sits ironically between contrasting images of melting ice inside single-use plastic bags and images of the Amazon burning, making reference to the media’s tone-deaf transitions between devastating news and light-hearted commercial breaks, and to how quickly the world’s attention moves from one war or disaster to another.
